Linked
Linked takes its references from Alfred Latour and the Katsura Imperial Villa. A model was created by translating one of Latour’s paintings into 3D using the building principles of Katsura. This led to the idea of basing the entire structure on the standard size of a plywood sheet, 1.22 by 2.44 meters.
The building is constructed as a window frame system, alternating between glass and a wall structure of plywood and Trespa. This modular approach allows residents to repair parts of the building themselves in an inexpensive and accessible way. One side of the project is inhabited by refugees, while the other side contains safehouses. Sliding walls provide an additional sense of security.
An inner garden, open to the neighborhood, offers refugees the opportunity to share their culture. A drainage system is integrated across the entire design, ensuring that the built-up area achieves a drainage capacity greater than the paved surface, while also creating a calming sound effect throughout the project.
