Through Atelier Bildraum I had the opportunity to collaborate with Steve Salembier on his performance Umwelt. Together with Céline de Fauconval and Gust Huybens we created Body Space.

 

Body Space is an exploration of the layers within physical contact and the interplay between a tangible body and a projected body.

 

By projecting Jef Lambeaux’s sculpture De menselijke driften onto the upper body and arms of a performer, a shifting interaction emerged in which the sculpture at times acted upon the body while at other moments the body acted upon the sculpture. This constant oscillation blurred the boundary between reality and projection and dissolved the distinction between the physical and the virtual.
